| Naturalism | The philosophy that the events in the world follow impersonal laws that can be deduced by careful observation and experimentation. Despite spectacular success from applying this philosophy, it is believed by some theists to be inferior to the competing philosophy of "supernaturalism". |

A very popular, almost populist, Roman emperor accused of burning Rome (the fact that he wasn't there to do it and that, after the incident, he gave his palaces to the homeless is irrelevant). Driven to death by the Roman elite, because he was considered dangerous to the aristocrats' economical and political interests. |
